meatless hot dogs... no really, they're good!

I hate hot dogs.
I'm not sure when this started, because I remember eating a lot of them as a child. Maybe it was when Gaby Hoffman choked on one in Field of Dreams. Or maybe it was when I found out what they were actually made of. Either way, it's been a long time since I've eating anything hot dog related.
There's a certain nostalgia to eating a hot dog and watching the ball game that I've always loved. I've found myself wanting to join in on the experience for years. I've tried pretty much every tofu dog on the market, but still never found one that gave me a real satisfied feeling. I had all but given up that soy could make a suitable "dog-like" product.
That is until I decided to take a chance onTrader Joe's Italian Sausageless Sausages. I cannot get over how amazing these are. They might even be better than a real sausage (and they're definitely better than a hot dog). In fact, it's pretty hard to believe they're not meat at all. They have a great texture & feel really filling. And best of all they don't have that weird tofu aftertaste that so many other products have. I've been loving them all summer long.
Last week while shopping at Trader Joe's I found yet another product that made me want to jump up and down.... Meatless Corn Dogs. I have vivid memories of loving corn dogs as a kid. It's been years since I had one. But I figured since their Sausageless Sausages were so good that it was worth the $3 to try them out. (sidenote: Trader Joe's is surprisingly cheap for having amazing, organic & healthy products!)
I was a little skeptical that the corn dogs would be any good. But again TJ's came through. I could not believe that I wasn't eating meat. I actually checked the package 3 times and read all the ingredients twice because I was so shocked. In fact, I challenge any parent out there to feed these to their kids without telling them it's healthy and they'll love it. Seriously, try it. A pack of 4 is cheaper than a latté, and could get your family hooked on healthy!
Off to watch Game 2.... here's hoping it's another nail-biter like last night!
