Of all the coffee joints in all the lower mainland, this is the one you have to try.  As anyone in Vancouver can tell you, coffee is a way of life here.  Everyone has their favorite places to go to, and everyone swears that their place makes the best coffee.  They're all lying to you.  Because THIS PLACE makes the best coffee around.  More specifically, they make the best soy latte I've ever had in my life.  Yes, even better than Starbucks.

It takes a lot for me to cheat on Starbucks, who's always there for me rain, shine & 3 a.m.  Crema, though is like that summer fling you wish could last forever.  But Crema is nowhere near where I live, and neither of us wanted to have a long-distance relationship.  So every once in a while I'll drive out to enjoy a latte, and then wander down to Ambleside Beach to reminisce about days gone by.

Recently I kidnapped my friend Amanda from working at her gallery and took her over the Lions Gate to sample some of the magic.  And Crema delivered.  Complete with a really cute lip-pierced barista guy that perked up her day, and a parisian sandwich that completed mine.  On top of their lattes being amazing, they are also beautiful, always seeming to surprise with their latte art.  The place is spacious, but cozy at the same time and has really comfy chairs as well as workspaces.  It's anything you could ever want in a café.

As always after all that decadence we wandered out to the beach to soak up the last of the suns rays.  It's the perfect way to escape from the city, while never really leaving it.  So the next time you need to get away but are on a budget, stop by Crema.  You won't be disappointed.
