dinner & a movie? opa!

  • restaurant: Kapestro's
  • location: 750-32525 London Avenue  Mission, BC
  • hours: Monday-Thursday 11-9, Friday-Saturday 11-10, closed Sundays
  • price: $10-$20 range

Everyone who knows me knows that I'm a huge movie fan.  For the past few years I've been passing a little Greek Café on the way in to my local movie theatre vowing that one day I would stop in and try it.  I'd never been one to crave Greek food, which is probably why it took me so long to stop in.  A recent trip to Toronto's Greektown totally changed that.

So I was going out for dinner a few weeks ago and thought I'd try it out.  It was absolutely amazing!  The place is called Kapestro's, and it's a cozy little place with mismatched seating & a small vine-covered patio.

It sits just off the side entrance to the Mission SilverCity Cinema.  I took my Mom there, who's a big Greek-fan, and she loved it too.  The portions are large and the food is really fresh.  The wait staff is attentive, but gives you space and tends not to bug you too much.

I'd recommend the Falafel, a chickpea dish covered in tomato sauce.  Seriously, it's become one of my favorite meals out.  Instead of getting the starch & carb heavy sides of rice & potatoes ask to substitute greek salad.  They make it with all different peppers (red, yellow & orange), instead of just the usual green.  For an extra special treat if you're sharing with a friend and want something rich & spicy try the spicy feta dip, it's amazing!

The perfect place to take a date before hitting a movie (provided you don't mind garlic breath).  Or if you live in the area and are looking for somewhere quiet to go for lunch, this is a perfect hideaway.

so good to hear about someone actually going there! I've often wondered about it when we go to the movies - will definitely have to try it out : ) Thanks for the honest review!
